Despite Hunters and Warlocks consistently outperforming Titans since the release of The Final Shape, Destiny 2’s least-used class received a significant boost with the introduction of a powerful new Exotic weapon.
Echoes Act 3 introduced the Choir of One, a Void Auto Rifle. This unique weapon is the first of its kind to utilize Special ammo. When aiming down sights, it can inflict greater damage, and when fired from the hip, it transforms into a shotgun.
The reason for its deadly reputation lies in its shotgun form, as demonstrated by Aztecross. By utilizing Choir of One, Actium War Rig, Divinity, and Well of Radiance, the Exotic Auto Rifle was able to deal 3,393,128 damage in a single phase against Phry’zhia, the Insatiable.
The Actium War Rig is the perfect partner for Choir of One as it allows the Titan exclusive chest armor to constantly reload Auto Rifles, resulting in increased DPS and less need for manual reloading.
Aztecross also compared Merciless, a Fusion Rifle that is typically considered a strong DPS weapon for Special ammo, to Choir of One. Despite having the same setup, Merciless only managed to deal 1,682,078 damage, while Choir of One more than doubled its output.
The general consensus among prominent members of the community is that the new Exotic is exceptionally powerful. In fact, Destiny 2 analyst MossyMax stated that Bungie had ignored the issue of powercreep by introducing this weapon. According to MossyMax, each shot from the new weapon deals 90% of the damage of a full magazine from Fourth Horseman, while also having three times the ammo reserves and no range limitations.
Not only is its boss damage exceptional, but the increased precision damage when aiming down sights also makes it incredibly effective against adds. In fact, in this form, its DPS is equivalent to that of a Sniper Rifle, yet it remains as user-friendly as a Rocket Sidearm.
Choir of One also has access to Destabilizing Rounds, one of its three craftable catalysts, alongside Onslaught and Subsistence. This catalyst enhances its ability to clear out enemies, as final blows will cause them to become volatile and set off a chain of destructive explosions.
To obtain this meta Exotic, you must finish Encore, a newly released mission in Echoes Act 3. However, you must have finished the seasonal stories of both Act 1 and Act 2 in order to access it.
