New Elden Ring Sorcery ‘Breaks’ Shadow of the Erdtree DLC

If you’re having trouble with the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC in Elden Ring, there is a new Sorcery that can help you easily defeat all enemies.

FromSoftware’s reputation for creating challenging expansions is well-known, from Bloodborne’s The Old Hunters to Dark Souls 3’s Ringed City DLC. The upcoming Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree is no different, promising a collection of formidable new bosses.

Complaints regarding the difficulty of this challenge have resulted in Shadow of the Erdtree receiving a mixed rating on Steam. Prominent streamer Kai Cenat has advised players to “step up”and face the expansion’s challenges with determination.

If you are not in the mood to wear pants or simply need a break from the challenge, consider trying out one of the DLC’s new Sorceries. The Impenetrable Thorns Sorcery is especially effective against the most formidable enemies in Shadow of the Erdtree.

A video posted on X by streamer Scott Jund displays Impenetrable Thorns effortlessly depleting boss health bars. What adds to the awe is that throughout the different battles, he is seen as a summoned ally, indicating that these foes have a substantially larger amount of health.

The usage of Sorcery relies on Faith rather than Intelligence, with a required stat of at least 24 to cast. It is worth noting that its damage and Bleed build-up are influenced by the Arcane stat, therefore some adjustments to one’s build may be necessary.

Incorporating a Staff that scales with Arcane, such as the Albanauric’s Staff, as a catalyst for Impenetrable Thorns will enhance its effectiveness. Additionally, by charging the Godfrey Icon Talisman, the spell’s potency will also be boosted.

You can find Impenetrable Thorns in the Shadow Keep Legacy Dungeon by pulling the lever in the Storehouse and climbing the suspended statue. After doing so, you can slowly walk off the ledge right outside and locate the Sorcery.

We suggest taking a break at the Site of Grace located in front of Messmer, the Impaler’s boss room, to avoid having to make the journey twice. Enjoy casting your spells, Tarnished.
