Minecraft Snapshot 25W02A: Exciting New Features

1. Enhanced Pig Variants

The Snapshot introduces two unique pig variants that cater to different climatic conditions. The Warm Pig, characterized by a rusty orange-brown texture, thrives in hot and humid areas like Savannas, Jungles, and Badlands. Conversely, the Cold Pig features a furry beige texture and is found in cooler environments such as Taigas and Windswept Hills. Interestingly, when breeding different pig variants, the offspring’s appearance is determined by the biome where they are bred.

2. Introduction of Wildflowers and Leaf Litter

Among the latest additions are the Wildflowers, which enchant the landscape of Birch Forests and Meadows with their yellow and white hues, reminiscent of cherry blossom petals. Players can plant these flowers on grass blocks, with a maximum of four Wildflowers permitted per block. Utilizing bonemeal will encourage growth, although any additional flowers will break if the block is already full.

Furthermore, the Leaf Litter makes its debut, primarily found in Forests, Dark Forests, and Badlands. This addition functions similarly to the Wildflowers, spreading across the ground and adding a touch of realism to the environment. Notably, Leaf Litter can also serve as fuel in Furnaces, providing a functional use within the game.

3. Enhanced Falling Leaves Animation

The previous update, The Garden Awakens, featured falling leaves animations exclusive to the Pale Garden Biome. With Snapshot 25W02A, Mojang expands this functionality to encompass various tree types in the Overworld. Each tree’s unique leaf color now corresponds to the falling leaves’ hues, adding a scenic visual appeal. Nonetheless, players hope for further improvement, as the animations currently utilize a standardized leaf texture across all types, missing an opportunity to reflect each tree’s distinct characteristics.

4. Updates to the Pale Garden Biome

Recognizing community feedback, Mojang has made significant adjustments to the Pale Garden biome, expanding its size within Dark Forests and increasing its frequency of occurrence. Additionally, the Pale Garden biome now has a chance to spawn around Woodland Mansions. Enhancements also include the ability to use a nametag on the Creaking to prevent despawning from sunlight exposure. Players can activate the Creaking Heart by placing it between Pale Oak Logs, although it will remain dormant during daylight hours, showcasing a new color gradient between its activated and deactivated states.

5. Streamlined Lodestone Recipe

Previously, crafting a Lodestone was challenging due to the requirement of Netherite. However, Snapshot 25W02A simplifies this process. Players can now create a Lodestone using just Chiseled Stone blocks and an Iron ingot. Additionally, these Lodestones can now be found in the chests of Ruined Portals, allowing for easier navigation within the game’s expansive world.

6. Additional Minor Updates

Aside from the more prominent features, various smaller updates have been introduced. These include a new sound effect for Iron blocks, bars, trapdoors, doors, and plates. Furthermore, Zombified Piglins now drop specific loot upon being killed, while Badlands biomes can host new farm animals. Lastly, the Meadows biome has a diminished chance of spawning Sparser Grass.
