New Horror Movie Hailed as Next Longlegs Debuts to 100% Rotten Tomatoes Score

If you’re coming down from watching Longlegs and in need of your next horror fix, you’re in luck because a new scary movie has just been released in theaters and has received a perfect 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes.

The marketing campaign by Neon undoubtedly made Longlegs the most highly anticipated horror movie of 2024, making it a tough act to follow for any upcoming Nicolas Cage thriller.

Despite the initial uproar, the focus has now shifted to Damian Mc Carthy’s Oddity, which was released in theaters on July 19th.

Despite not receiving as much attention, it has been hailed as one of the top horror movies of the year, with some comparing it to the iconic “Longlegs”and others claiming it surpasses it in quality.

Similar to the Neon horror movie, Oddity initially premiered with a perfect 100% score from critics on Rotten Tomatoes, which has since decreased slightly to 98%, still maintaining an outstanding rating.

The focus of the story is Darcy, a medium who is blind and determined to uncover the truth behind her twin sister Dani’s murder. To aid in her quest for revenge, she utilizes inherited haunted items, including a chilling wooden mannequin.

Caveat filmmaker Mc Carthy wrote and directed Oddity, which features Carolyn Bracken as Darcy and Dani, Gwilym Lee as widower Ted, and Caroline Menton as Yana, the new girlfriend of Ted.

Ever since its release, Oddity has been met with widespread acclaim from critics. In fact, The Wall Street Journal described the film as “spooky and satisfying,”stating that it is a thriller that Alfred Hitchcock himself would have been proud to have his name attached to.

The online publication SlashFilm praised Oddity for its ability to effectively scare audiences, a difficult task to accomplish. The review described the film as a creepy and well-told tale, making it one of the top horror movies of the year.

The Daily Beast reported that Oddity, a terrifying new horror film from Damian Mc Carthy, is a must-see for those who enjoyed Longlegs and are looking for more unsettling thrills this summer.

According to some viewers, Oddity surpasses Longlegs in quality, as seen in this review from someone who stated, “The film is filled with a dense atmosphere and heavy silence.”

As a frequent viewer of horror movies, I have seen almost everything released this year. Despite this, the film still managed to deliver numerous nail-biting moments of suspense and plenty of heart-sinking scenes, showcasing its impressive ability to keep audiences on the edge of their seats.

I highly suggest watching this film if it’s showing nearby, and I dare say – Oddity was definitely superior to Longlegs.

One individual remarked, “For horror enthusiasts, this one is a must-watch. Although it may not stay in the spotlight for long, I personally found it quite eerie despite some plot inconsistencies. It has a classic vibe to it and I dare say it was even scarier than Longlegs.”
