The Fantastic Four debuted at the 2024 SDCC, and along with their appearance came an exclusive preview of test footage for the highly anticipated film.
Hall H attendees at the San Diego Comic-Con were treated to an exclusive first look at the cast of The Fantastic Four: First Steps on July 27. Director Matt Shakman also made an appearance at the panel, where he revealed exciting new details about the highly anticipated Marvel film.
During the presentation, viewers were treated to a glimpse of the Fantasticar and the announcement that Michael Giacchino would be composing the score for the upcoming film. However, the real highlight was the reveal of Galactus, the notorious supervillain, in the first official footage. And let me tell you, he’s quite a formidable presence.
Despite the fact that filming for the Marvel movie is set to start on Tuesday, July 30, sneak peek footage has already been put together to give viewers a taste of what they can expect. The footage was shown in Hall H and has since been shared on various social media platforms in the form of screenshots and clips.

In the preview, viewers were treated to a glimpse of the Fantastic Four crew. Reed Richards is shown teaching a science class, Ben Grimm (aka The Thing) is featured as a contestant on a dating show, and Johnny Storm is depicted with his signature blond hair. This portrayal presents the team as a close-knit family, gathering for weekly dinners and preparing for a space mission together.
However, the most significant reveal occurred in the final moments of the footage, as Galactus’ massive head loomed through the window of a skyscraper.
In 2007’s Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer, his final on-screen role was as a cloud. Fortunately, fans can now be confident that they will be able to see his face, or at least his eyes.
The footage reveals that The Fantastic Four is embracing its retro origins, presenting a world that combines elements of both the past and the future. Additionally, it offers a glimpse of the team’s iconic bright blue costumes, a highly anticipated moment for longtime fans of the characters.
