New Jujutsu Kaisen Movie to be Released in 2025, But Not Related to the Culling Game

Fans of Jujutsu Kaisen can look forward to another movie set to premiere in 2025, however, it will not offer anything new for those already familiar with the franchise.

Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 is currently one of the most highly anticipated upcoming anime. With two seasons and a film already released, this series has solidified its position as one of the most beloved and top-rated anime globally, attracting a massive fan following worldwide.

Despite the lack of updates on MAPPA’s adaptation of the Culling Game Arc, it has been announced that another project is in the works – a compilation film that will encompass the Hidden Inventory/Premature Death arc.

This recut covers the first five episodes of Season 2 before delving into the longer Shibuya Incident Arc. It is also referred to as Gojo’s Past, as it serves as a prequel exploring the early bond between Satoru Gojo and Suguru Geto during their time as students.

As we are aware, that relationship would ultimately result in sadness. Interestingly, this re-release will serve as a great introduction to Jujutsu Kaisen 0, a different prequel that takes place at a later point in the timeline, showcasing a more powerful version of Geto as the antagonist.

MAPPA is conscious of the fact that fans are craving more Jujutsu Kaisen content, which is why it makes sense for them to release a movie alongside Culling Game. However, the idea of a compilation film is not receiving a positive response.

“One person responded on X/Twitter, “There are no original movie ideas, geez.”Another person commented, “Why not? It seems like they’re just trying to make more money.”

The announcement of an Attack on Titan compilation film has only added to the already mounting frustration. However, director Yuichiro Hayashi had initially envisioned the final part of Attack on Titan to be a film, making The Last Attack a truer representation of his creative vision.

This trend of recuts and re-releases has become increasingly common in recent years. Each season since its inception, Demon Slayer has produced a feature-length film, and Mugen Train was even converted into episodes after its initial release, in contrast to the current situation.

In any scenario, 2025 is set to be a significant year for Jujutsu Kaisen, as the highly anticipated ending of the series will be approaching.
