According to the latest TV Tokyo Financial Results’ Q&A session, the highly anticipated new Naruto anime, created in celebration of the franchise’s 20th anniversary, is expected to premiere in 2024. Although there has been no official announcement, this information strongly suggests its release.
In celebration of the 20th anniversary of the Naruto anime, a new four-episode series was announced. Originally set for release in September 2023, the anime has since been delayed with no confirmed release date. However, there may be some news for fans to anticipate in the coming months.
TV Tokyo Hints at 2024 Premiere for New Naruto Anime
According to the most recent TV Tokyo Financial Results Q&A session with Ichiro Ishikawa on Tuesday, May 21, 2024, it was announced that the new Naruto anime is set to air during the current fiscal year, which is 2024.
As previously stated, the anime was scheduled to debut on September 3, 2023, with one episode airing each week for four weeks. However, the anime unexpectedly announced its indefinite hiatus at the end of August 2023.
The anime’s release has been postponed in order to enhance the quality of animation in its episodes, as stated in the announcement.
Confirmations from Studio Pierrot’s announcements catering to the animanga industry have further solidified this notion. The studio’s focus was intended to shift towards producing more high-quality anime rather than longer-running series with only a few standout episodes.
The studio realized that anime fans were seeking high-quality anime that could be released quickly, rather than long-running series. Although the studio still plans to produce long-running anime, they need to distinguish between the two types of shows.
This resulted in the establishment of a subsidiary animation studio called Pierrot Films by Studio Pierrot.
According to the studio’s announcement, Pierrot Films will continue to produce the remaining episodes of Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War anime. This will potentially be followed by a new Naruto anime and other IPs acquired by Studio Pierrot.
The initial release date for the anime was scheduled for September 3, 2023. Therefore, it is likely that the new premiere date will fall somewhere between late summer and early fall of the 2024 anime season. This release date would align with the anime’s original premiere in 2002.
