New Pokemon Go Battle Formats Could Save “Low Tier” Creatures

There are numerous ways to participate in Pokemon Go, including challenging Team Rocket leaders and strong Raid Pokemon, battling at Gyms, and competing in the Go Battle League.

Over the years, a constant stream of new features and extra Pokemon have been added to the game. However, some fans feel that this is not sufficient to maintain the game’s freshness and balance. Therefore, a potential solution could be the implementation of a new battle system.

The suggestion for a different combat system was suggested in a post on Reddit discussing power creep and the perceived weakness of “low tier”Pokemon in high-level game content.

The author of the original post concluded that it was time for Pokemon Go to receive a long-awaited update to its PVE battle system, one that would give lower-tier Pokemon like Arcanine, Gengar, and Crawdaunt an advantage.

They proposed the addition of a new mode that would allow players to engage in battles with fully evolved Pokemon in the wild by tapping on them. The original player believed that this feature would give lesser known Pokemon a chance to shine.

Despite the suggestion, not all players were convinced. In fact, one player pointed out, “Even in the main games, this issue has yet to be resolved. The solution is simply to over-level your preferred characters. But as they say, the top tier will always reign supreme, just like in RPGs.”

“One person also commented, questioning the significance of introducing a new PvE system at this stage. In fact, I am starting to struggle to determine the true interest of so-called ‘PvE players’ in the concept of Player Versus Environment.”

Despite opposition from some Pokemon Go enthusiasts, others were curious and shared their own proposals for the new system.

A reader shared their opinion, stating, “There could potentially be a different battle system, although I am unsure if this is the one.”They also mentioned that the current system required improved consistency and performance, as well as a simpler method for identifying Pokemon moves.

Some others were enamored with the idea, and one enthusiastic player chimed in, saying, “It would be quite enjoyable to engage in a skirmish with a wild Pokemon and then have the chance to capture it with raid/research IV’s. Perhaps it could be arranged so that we can only use Pokemon that are at or below the level of the wild Pokemon in battle.”

Although it’s uncertain if a new Pokemon Go battle system will ever be introduced, it’s always fascinating to gauge the community’s reaction to potential new mechanics. For instance, Dynamaxing was hinted at in an official game artwork, capturing the attention of players ever since.
