New predictions for Netflix’s release of Lost

Finally, Lost is making its way to Netflix, and followers of the divisive television series are all anticipating the same thing – that we are in for a major confrontation.

Despite being a part of the prestigious TV landscape in the early 2000s, Lost is often overlooked in comparison to its enduring small screen counterparts. Shows like Breaking Bad, Mad Men, and The Sopranos are considered some of the greatest TV shows ever made, leaving Lost neglected in the conversation.

Now is the perfect opportunity for a change, as the thriller series will be added to the streaming service on July 1, 2024. It will become part of Netflix’s lineup of new TV shows, allowing both new and existing viewers to stream every episode. This has sparked thoughts among Lost fans about reevaluating the show’s controversial ending.

Lost ran for six years before coming to an end in 2010. Its finale received widespread criticism and is often cited as one of the most disliked in history. Many audience members were disappointed with how the show concluded, particularly in regards to its large and diverse cast of characters. (Warning: if you have yet to watch Lost and plan on doing so when it becomes available on Netflix, be aware that there are spoilers ahead!)

Just to refresh everyone’s memory, the ending of Lost features Jack lying down in the jungle and passing away. He is then reunited with the rest of the islanders in a church, which was widely interpreted as the afterlife, before they all depart together.

Despite being initially disliked upon its airing, the ending of the show quickly garnered criticism. This was due in part to a misconception among viewers who believed that the characters had been trapped in purgatory throughout the entire series, thus rendering all of the dramatic events meaningless. However, the creators have since refuted this theory, as explained in a statement.

Despite this, after learning about the Netflix release, numerous fans have expressed their belief that Lost (including its conclusion) deserves another opportunity.

According to a comment on X by a user (https://x.com/JacobStolworthy/status/1796942643475226862), once people re-watch LOST and recognize the brilliance of its finale, I will likely become obnoxiously smug.

“The reevaluation is approaching and those who stood by this show will soon be proven right,”wrote another Twitter user. A third user added: “Even though I only watched it for the first time two years ago, the quote tweets are disheartening. It’s unbelievable how many people misunderstood the ending and dismissed the entire show because of it. It’s ridiculous.”

“According to another source, the Lost renaissance and reassessment of the finale is currently underway.”

Another person chimed in: “I firmly believe that Lost is a great show and the finale is fantastic. Those who dislike it will eventually be proven wrong and welcomed with open arms when they rethink their opinions.”

It cannot be denied that when Lost first premiered in 2004, viewers at home were exposed to a completely unique and unprecedented television experience. The pilot episode, which was also the most costly one ever produced at the time, was a testament to the hard work and skill of the creators, who went as far as acquiring a full-scale real-life plane for the jaw-dropping opening sequence.

Be sure to watch it when it becomes available on Netflix on July 1. In the meantime, check out the most binge-worthy TV shows currently available. Stay updated on the latest TV releases this month, such as The Bear Season 3 and House of the Dragon Season 2.
