The announcement of the new Hell Teacher anime project was made through the release of a teaser trailer that was approximately 60 seconds long. A key visual featuring a scene from the trailer was also unveiled. As of writing this article, there has been no further information shared about the anime project. However, fans can anticipate more updates as the year 2024 comes to a close and 2025 draws near.

Confirmed Release Window for Hell Teacher Anime Project in 2025, But Initial Announcement Lacks Details

As of the writing of this article, there is unfortunately no additional confirmed information available for the Hell Teacher anime. This includes the cast and staff announcements, as well as the animation studio responsible for the project. While the original 31-volume manga’s author Sho Makura and illustrator Takeshi Okano have provided some commentary, it is still disappointing that further information has not been shared.

Aside from the upcoming anime project, it was announced that the manga would also receive a new one-shot in the September edition of Shueisha’s Saikyo Jump magazine. The issue is scheduled for release in Japan on Friday, August 2, 2024. At the time of writing this article, it remains unclear whether the one-shot will be considered canon or have a direct connection to the anime project.

Makura and Okano expressed their excitement for the upcoming modern anime adaptation of the series in their comments. Makura assured fans that the adaptation would have a “completely new look”while still maintaining the charm of the original. Okano also expressed his happiness and excitement for the project, which had apparently been in development for years and can now be openly discussed.

Despite not being the first adaptation, this latest Hell Teacher anime series joins a long line of previous ones, including a television anime from 1996 to 1997, a video anime from 1998 to 1999, and three anime films released during the same time period. The original manga, titled Jigoku Sensei Nube and spanning 31 volumes, was written by Makura and Okano and was serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine from 1993 to 1999. According to the description in the trailer, the story is described as follows:

“The story follows Meisuke Nueno, aka “Nube,”a psychic teacher with a demon hand, as he battles evil spirits and monsters to protect his students in this saga that employs elements of Japanese mythology and folklore to tell a fan-pleasing action story.

Known for its occult and horror elements on school ghost stories and urban legends, Nube captivated readers across generations with his heroic efforts to save his students from supernatural threats.”
