New TikTok Trend: Health Expert Warns of Electrocution Risk

Health professionals are strongly criticizing a recent TikTok trend taking over the popular social media platform, cautioning individuals that participating in this fad could potentially result in “fatal electrocution.”

TikTok is a popular destination for sharing new life hacks, with many users turning to the social media platform for discussing the latest lifestyle trends such as meal-prepping ideas and clothing hacks.

The most recent trend on TikTok revolves around grounding sheets, a product that numerous people believe can improve sleep.

According to the website of Be Grounded, a retail store specializing in grounding products, these items are specifically created to allow individuals to connect with the Earth without needing to leave the house.

Electric currents are utilized by these sheets and mats to imitate the sensation of being “grounded”outdoors, as if on the front lawn or in nature. In order for them to function, they need to be connected to an electrical outlet.

Influencers on TikTok have been expressing their admiration for the product, with some even stating that these sheets have aided in their “healing”and allowed them to “connect with nature.”

Despite the hype surrounding grounding sheets and mats on TikTok, health experts are cautioning users about potential extreme side effects and questioning their effectiveness.

During an interview with Mirror, Adeel UL-Haq, a sleep expert from Bunk Beds, expressed his worries about the rising popularity of this trend, highlighting the potential danger of electrocution in one’s household.

If lightning strikes in close proximity to your home, there is a potential danger of electrocution due to its connection to your electrical system.

UL-Haq cautioned, “Observing a house struck by lightning, one would observe the burnt ground wire along its trajectory. By using these products, you may potentially be in that path. Despite the low probability of a lightning strike, the danger of using these items outweighs the benefit.”

The sleep expert advised individuals who have difficulty maintaining healthy sleep patterns and habits to establish a routine of going to bed and waking up at consistent times, even on weekends.
