Rob Liefeld, co-creator of Deadpool, and his feet have become a popular topic on social media due to an amazing Easter egg featuring both Deadpool and Wolverine.
The recent release of the Deadpool & Wolverine trailer has definitely heightened anticipation for the upcoming movie, as it features Hugh Jackman’s long-awaited return as Wolverine in action.
This film also includes numerous nods and cameos, such as the long-awaited confirmation of Emma Corrin as Cassandra Nova and a disturbing scene featuring a Giant Man body. However, one nod in particular has caught the attention of fans – a store named Liefeld’s Just Feet in the background of one shot.
To someone who is not a fan of comic books, the store may seem random, but it is actually a deliberate homage to Rob Liefeld, the co-creator of Deadpool.
An apparent shoe store in the Deadpool & Wolverine trailer is a nod to co-creator Rob Liefeld.
Liefield, who alongside Fabian Nicieza co-created Deadpool in 1991, is a dynamic and unforgettable presence in the world of comics. He gained such prominence that he even starred in his own Levi 501s advertisement. However, his distinct art style is also notorious among fans, specifically his approach to drawing feet – or, at times, not drawing them at all.
Without a doubt, both fans and comic creators are taking full advantage of the nod on social media, with “Liefeld’s Just Feet”trending alongside “Old Man Logan”on Twitter/X. While there are some individuals who are excessively harsh towards Liefeld’s art style after all this time, the majority are simply enjoying the humor and acknowledging the nod for what it represents.
“I don’t want to criticize Rob,”a Reddit user commented, “but that is definitely humorous.”
Despite receiving confirmation from Marvel about the Easter egg, Liefeld himself actually finds the joke enjoyable.
Liefeld announced on his Twitter/X account that, along with discussing the trailer, he will also be revealing the information he received from Marvel’s business affairs regarding the ‘Liefeld Orthopedic Store’ on tomorrow’s podcast.
Despite not making a cameo appearance, Liefeld continues to be a strong advocate for the film. He has commended its action scenes, even comparing it to “the BEST action since Winter Soldier”in a tweet.
The movie featuring Deadpool and Wolverine will be in theaters on July 26th.
