New Update on Potential Mandalorian Movie May Confirm Popular Theory About Pedro Pascal

The recent update to Pedro Pascal’s filming schedule for 2024 appears to support the theory that he will only be providing voice work for The Mandalorian and Grogu. This further solidifies the possibility that he will not be physically appearing in the show.

Pascal is a highly sought-after actor with a jam-packed schedule. He is currently filming for both The Fantastic Four: First Steps and The Mandalorian & Grogu, and according to a previous report, he is also expected to make a return to The Last of Us Season 2 at some point.

Despite other projects attempting to secure his involvement, he remains a top choice to replace Joaquin Phoenix in Todd Haynes’s upcoming film after the Joker actor’s sudden departure. However, as The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed, Pascal is unfortunately too busy for the film’s schedule, causing some fans to question the timeline.

THR reports that despite the project currently filming, Pascal won’t start working on The Mandalorian & Grogu until the end of the year. This suggests that Pascal will not physically portray Din in the upcoming Mandalorian film, but will instead provide voice work.

Pedro Pascal’s busy filming schedule may mean he’s only voicing The Mandalorian for the big screen.

It is possible that this may be a letdown for fans anticipating a theatrical portrayal, but it would not be uncommon. The extent to which The Mandalorian’s performance was Pascal’s versus that of body doubles has always been somewhat ambiguous.

Pascal has described The Mandalorian Season 3 as primarily a voice over role, as he spends less time in the suit due to the demands of the character. Throughout the show’s run, various stunt doubles have performed the physical scenes, with Pascal providing the voice work afterwards.

Despite this, Jon Favreau emphasized the importance of Pascal in the character, stating in a 2020 interview with Variety that he possessed the charm and delivery of a classic movie star. He also commended Pascal for his presence and skill in portraying the role.

Upcoming in the year 2025, Pascal will star in The Fantastic Four: First Steps.
