Based on previous Call of Duty titles, Akimbo shotguns typically dominate, but Warzone’s JAK Devastators present a unique exception.
In Season 4 Reloaded, Sledgehammer Games brought back the iconic SPAS-12 shotgun, now known as the Reclaimer 18. Despite its effectiveness in earlier games, this powerful pump-action shotgun hasn’t achieved the same success in Warzone.
Rapid-fire SMGs like the Static-HV and Striker outshine the Reclaimer 18’s mobility, and even impressive damage stats do not compensate for its shortcomings.
Some players speculated that the JAK Devastators conversion kit would address these issues, allowing the shotgun to be dual-wielded for enhanced firepower.
Initially, it appeared that these predictions were accurate. CoD content creator Goomie found that each shotgun inflicts 180 damage, enabling players to secure a one-shot kill within 2.3 meters by firing both simultaneously.
However, Activision cautioned players about “minimal accuracy and recoil control” when dual-wielding the Reclaimer 18s, though they affirmed that “destruction is maximized.”
This maximum destructive capability is confined to a range of just 2.3 meters, which restricts the usefulness of this conversion kit. Warzone Loadout noted that hitting targets past this distance is challenging due to accuracy issues.
Goomie remarked, “It has that potential, but it seems ineffective outside of point-blank range. With its awkward fire rate, it feels more like a niche fun gun.”
As a result, the Static-HV is likely to remain the top choice for close-quarters combat in the battle royale environment. According to WZ Ranked, the Static-HV dominates with a 27 percent pick rate, outperforming the second most popular weapon by nine percentage points.
The JAK Devastators have pushed the Reclaimer 18 into being Warzone’s ninth most popular weapon, but it’s unlikely to see significant growth in usage.
While players may enjoy close-range encounters, a groundbreaking experience should not be anticipated.
