The official staff has given the green light for the production of Yandere Dark Elf, an anime adaptation of Nakano Sora’s fantasy manga series, on Thursday, September 5, 2024. According to the announcement, the premiere of the anime is set for 2025. WWWAVE Corporation’s new Deregula anime label will be overseeing the production.
Despite this, as of the time of writing, there has been no announcement regarding the cast and crew for the upcoming television anime adaptation. It is worth mentioning that the fantasy manga series, created by Nakano Sora, was released on Takeshobo’s Web Comic Gamma Plus website in September 2021.
Currently, Takeshobo has published three tankobon volumes of the series under the Bamboo Comics imprint. However, Seven Seas Entertainment has recently obtained the rights to release an English version under their Ghost Ship imprint. The initial volume is scheduled to debut on October 8, 2024.
Upcoming Yandere Dark Elf Anime Set for Release in 2025
On September 5, 2024, the official X (formerly Twitter) account for Nakano Sora’s manga series announced the production decision for the Yandere Dark Elf anime. The staff confirmed that the fantasy anime will debut in 2025, although the specific release date has not yet been revealed.
As previously stated, Deregula, WWWave Corporation’s newly established anime label, is responsible for producing the anime. The label was launched in June 2023 specifically for creating anime titles.
WWWave intends to launch four fresh titles annually as part of the Deregula label, with the Yandere Dark Elf anime being the first project under this label. Details on the cast and crew will be disclosed at a later date.
Interestingly, the official X account for the manga series has also posted a statement from Nakano Sona expressing their excitement for the Yandere Dark Elf anime adaptation. When translated from Japanese to English, the author’s words are as follows:
“I started out drawing [Yandere Dark Elf] in a doujinshi, and as the author, I’m the most surprised that it’s been made into an anime, but I’m also really happy!! Even after the meetings about the anime adaptation started, I was skeptical for a while, wondering, ‘is it really going to be made into an anime? Is it just a prank’”
The writer includes:
“But thanks to the staff’s hard work to bring you se*xy and cute Bell and the others, I’m now looking forward to seeing Bell and Hinata really move and talk! I hope that both those who have read the original work and those who haven’t can enjoy the anime…”
The manga depicts the love story of high school student Hinata, who is reincarnated as a hero in a different world. Upon his return to the real world, he starts living with his old friend, Mariabelle, a dark elf who has a deep admiration for him.
