On November 28, K-Pop sensation NewJeans convened an urgent press conference to announce their departure from ADOR, the management firm under the globally recognized entertainment conglomerate HYBE.
The group’s members cited a “lack of sincerity” from the agency as their primary reason for terminating their contracts, claiming that ADOR exhibited “no willingness to heed our appeals.”
Prior to this announcement, NewJeans had issued a certification of contents to ADOR, demanding rectifications for multiple contract breaches within a strict 14-day deadline. They concluded their communication with a firm ultimatum: “Should our requests for rectification go unfulfilled, we will proceed to terminate our exclusive contracts.”
In response, ADOR acknowledged receipt of the certification and stated, “We are currently reviewing the details to comprehend the specific requests and will endeavor to address the situation prudently to maintain our partnership with the artists.”
During the press conference, members Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Haerin, and Hyein underscored the imminent contract expiration, confirming, “The deadline for rectification culminates at midnight tonight, and there appears to be no intention from HYBE and ADOR to implement any changes or listen to our suggestions.”
Minji reiterated, “Effective November 29 at 12 a.m. KST, our exclusive contract with ADOR will be officially cancelled.”

Minji further expressed the group’s frustration, stating, “We are exhausted by HYBE’s lack of sincerity and have realized once more that they show no intent to consider our requests.”
NewJeans Will Fight to Retain Their Identity
The press conference, hosted in Seoul with mere two hours’ notice, drew a large crowd of hundreds of journalists.
Concerns were raised regarding the potential loss of the “NewJeans”name, especially if the rights remain with ADOR. This aspect could significantly affect their future branding and presence in the industry.
🐹: The name NewJeans might just seem like a name. For us, it’s not that simple. From the day the five of us first met until now, the name embodies all the achievements we’ve made together. That’s why we will continue to strive to fully secure the rights to the name NewJeans. pic.twitter.com/FwHoIl7Bsc
