During the 2024 The Fact Music Awards, taking place at Kyocera Dome in Osaka, Japan on September 8th, NewJeans earned the title of “Worldwide Icon.” This prestigious award is presented to an artist or group recognized for their global influence among the winners of “Artist of the Year (Bonsang).”
Prior to receiving the “Worldwide Icon” award, NewJeans also secured the “World Best Performer” accolade, which honors the group with the most exceptional stage performance. They were recognized as “Artist of the Year” based on album sales, chart rankings, and scoring by judges, in addition to winning the “Musinsa Popularity Award,” which is determined by fan votes.
With a total of four awards, NewJeans expressed their heartfelt gratitude, stating, “All of these awards were possible because of the many people who support us and listen to our music. We love you, Bunnies (the name of our fandom).” They continued, “We believe that half of these awards should go to the countless individuals who quietly support us from behind the scenes. This moment feels like our last chance to express our thanks: CEO, thank you so, so much. We love you.”
Having ignited excitement at Tokyo Dome in June, NewJeans electrified the stage once again at Kyocera Dome with thrilling performances during the 2024 The Fact Music Awards.
The members showcased their individual talents by performing solo renditions of NewJeans’ biggest hits, such as “ETA,” “OMG,” “Ditto,” “Hype Boy,” and “Attention.” Their performances featured remix versions that emphasized dance breaks, displaying their innovative and bold approach.
For their Japanese audience, NewJeans delivered the Japanese version of “Bubble Gum” and heightened the energy with a powerful stage presence for “How Sweet,” which garnered an enthusiastic reaction. This marked the first time that NewJeans performed “How Sweet” as a full group on a live broadcast stage aired on Japan’s TBS.
Meanwhile, HYBE announced the dismissal of Min Hee-jin from her position as CEO of ADOR, appointing Kim Joo-young as the new CEO.
