NewJeans Follows Jang Wonyoung’s Steps: Reveals Identity of Malicious YouTuber

On April 11, ADOR, the agency representing NewJeans, submitted a formal request to the U.S. District Court in California to reveal the identity of the individual behind a YouTube account that was defaming NewJeans.

The individual on YouTube was alleged by NewJeans to have slandered the group in numerous videos, which purportedly received more than 13 million views.

NewJeans’ attorney stated that the material contained insults and other ridicule aimed at the company, resulting in significant harm to their reputation.

After receiving the U.S. District Court’s approval on April 30, ADOR was granted permission to reveal the identity of the YouTube account mentioned earlier. This allows ADOR to take legal action against the YouTuber for defamation and other offenses.

This YouTuber is also recognized for producing and sharing content on various groups, including LE SSERAFIM, aespa, BLACKPINK, IVE, and ILLIT.

Despite being faced with a lawsuit from NewJeans’ agency, the YouTuber persisted in sharing derogatory content about NewJeans’ member Minji, resulting in continued backlash.

Additionally, Starship Entertainment, the agency representing IVE’s Jang Wonyoung, had previously sought and received information from Google regarding the individual responsible for a YouTube channel disseminating false rumors about IVE and other artists. Subsequently, the agency pursued a lawsuit for damages.

Jang Wonyoung’s team’s ultimate goal was to establish a precedent for holding accountable those who engage in similar activities, which was the driving force behind their lawsuit. It appears that NewJeans has also taken a cue from Jang Won-young and has now joined in the effort to combat malicious YouTubers.
