NewJeans: Making the Cut for Billboard’s 21 Under 21 List in K-Pop Industry

On May 31st (local time), Billboard revealed its annual “21 Under 21″list, which showcases 21 individuals and groups under the age of 21. This year, only one Korean artist, NewJeans, made the prestigious list.

The “21 Under 21″list is created each year by Billboard, taking into account a range of factors including album and song sales, streaming figures, social media presence, and radio/TV popularity.

Billboard recognized NewJeans’ successes, acknowledging their remarkable achievements in under 2 years since their debut. They were praised for creating a distinct impact in the world of K-pop.

Last year, NewJeans reached the top of the “Billboard 200″chart with their second EP “Get Up,”making them the fastest K-pop group to achieve this feat only one year after their debut.

Their songs “OMG”, “Ditto”, “Super Shy”, “ETA”, and “Cool With You”also landed a spot on Billboard’s top song chart, the “Hot 100”.

Their songs “OMG”, “Ditto”, and “Super Shy”were among the top 10 on the “Global 200″chart. This surge in popularity led to their recognition as the “Group of the Year”at the “2024 Billboard Women in Music Awards”.

At the same time, NewJeans is actively marketing their latest double single “How Sweet”.
