Commitment to the Name and Their Identity

During the press conference, member Hyein expressed concern regarding the potential loss of their name, stating, “There’s a possibility that the five of us might not be able to use the name NewJeans. However, the essence of NewJeans, as represented by the five of us, will not change.” She reiterated, “We have no intention of giving up the name NewJeans.”

Hyein further elaborated on the significance of the name, describing it as a symbol of their collective journey since their first meeting. “To some, this might seem like a simple issue of a name or trademark. For us, it’s far from simple. The name encapsulates all the experiences we’ve had together. That’s why we will do everything we can to secure our rights to the name NewJeans,” she asserted.

Future Plans and Collaboration Wishes

In addition, the group addressed their former CEO, Min Hee-jin, expressing their desire to continue collaboration. They stated, “We are currently in the process of completing our prior schedules, and if possible, we would still like to continue working with Min Hee-jin.”

When posed with a question regarding messages for HYBE chairman Bang Si-hyuk, member Minjin succinctly replied, “As previously mentioned, we want to continue working with Min Hee-jin. Therefore, we have nothing to say to Bang Si-hyuk.”

Background Context

This press conference comes in the wake of a formal notice sent to ADOR on November 13, in which NewJeans indicated potential termination of their exclusive contract.
