The American pop culture magazine Variety released its “2024 Young Hollywood Impact Report”on August 7th (local time). Among this year’s list, NewJeans was the sole female K-pop artist to be featured.
Variety showcased NewJeans’ accomplishments on both the U.S. Billboard charts and the biggest music streaming platform, Spotify. The magazine acknowledged the group’s collaborations with international companies such as Coca-Cola and Apple, lauding NewJeans as beloved figures in the K-pop industry.
This year, NewJeans has successfully made a comeback in Korea and debuted in Japan. Their Korean double single “How Sweet”and Japanese debut single “Supernatural”not only topped domestic music charts but also gained recognition on various global charts. These albums collectively sold over one million copies, making all five of NewJeans’ releases million-sellers. Furthermore, the group’s fan meeting at Tokyo Dome on June 26th-27th was a testament to their immense popularity, drawing in an audience of approximately 91,200 fans.
Additionally, NewJeans has once again been recognized for their musical talents as they have received a nomination for the highly regarded American music awards show, the MTV Video Music Awards. On August 6th, the list of nominees was revealed and NewJeans was included in the “Best K-Pop”category for their hit single “Super Shy”from their second EP “Get Up”. This marks the second consecutive year that NewJeans has been nominated at the MTV VMA, as they were previously recognized in the “Group of the Year”category.
