On June 1st, Elle Korea’s YouTube channel released a video titled “A Human-Faced Fish Is Cute! And After That… NewJeans‘ #Meme-terview.” In this engaging segment, the members of NewJeans candidly shared their feelings while reacting to memes about themselves, particularly reminiscing about the time they missed their teammate Hyein.
Due to an injury, Hyein was unable to participate in some of the group’s previous contents. Reflecting on that challenging time, Danielle remarked, “Sometimes Hyein acts very mature, but at other times, she exhibits a lovely side. I tried hard to showcase that loveliness.”
When the other members teased Danielle, suggesting that her imitation resembled her own behavior, she promptly clarified, “I mean, that’s not how I talk.” Minji joined in on the light-hearted fun with a playful expression on her face.
Hyein provided her insights by stating, “During the time I had to watch NewJeans from afar, I think the word ‘happiness’ perfectly encapsulated our team. It was a truly precious time when I felt genuinely happy watching their performances and listening to our music.”

In a lighter part of the interview, Danielle reminisced about a humorous encounter with singer Lee Mujin. She recounted that he humorously claimed, “Danielle is like a mermaid. I’m a human-faced fish.” Danielle’s puzzled response to the phrase “human-faced fish” created a delightful moment that elicited laughter from both the group and their viewers.
