On the 21st, NewJeans will be debuting their first single ‘Supernatural’ in Japan. In response, ADOR released an interview with the members, in which they discussed their local endeavors and their love for the new song.
NewJeans expressed their anticipation for their first performance in Japan, stating that they had been eagerly awaiting this moment. They shared their joy and excitement, feeling as though they were embarking on a new journey in Japan. They also mentioned their enthusiasm for sharing their beloved songs with their devoted fandom, known as Bunnies.
The song ‘Supernatural’ is the title track and features a New Jack Swing style. It incorporates ad-libs and the bridge from Pharrell Williams’ 2009 collaboration with Manami, a Japanese singer, titled ‘Back Off My Mind.’
NewJeans raved about the song, stating that it was impossible to resist once you heard it. They described the intro and Pharrell Williams’ ad-libs as powerful, and praised the thrilling combination of synth sounds and beats.
The members also alluded to their performance, stating, “We believed it was crucial to create a sense of unity while performing. Our focus was on staying in sync with the dancers.”They further expressed their hopes for the viewers to also appreciate the performance.
The song ‘Right Now’ was previously released with a music video and showcases a combination of smooth vocals and a lively tempo. NewJeans elaborated, “It emphasizes our effortless coolness and sophisticated charm.”
That morning, NewJeans made a live appearance on Fuji TV’s ‘Mezamashi TV’ where they debuted their performance of ‘Supernatural.’ Their dynamic dance moves and carefree rhythms brought a burst of lively energy to the stage.
On the same day, NewJeans will make appearances on Fuji TV’s ‘Mezamashi 8’ and TV Asahi’s ‘Music Station’. Additionally, starting on the 22nd with Nihon TV’s ‘with MUSIC’, they will continue to perform on various local music shows, including TBS’s ‘Music Day 2024’ on the 13th of the following month.
On the 26th and 27th, a fan meeting will be held at Tokyo Dome. The setlist for the event consists of more than 20 songs, which includes their double single ‘How Sweet,’ four tracks from their debut single in Japan, 12 songs that have been released before, and special solo performances.
