This was their initial performance following the disagreement between ADOR CEO Min Hee-jin and parent company HYBE.
The event “Korea on Stage”(hereinafter referred to as “Korea on Stage – New Generation”) took place on May 21st at Heungnyemun Square in Gyeongbokgung Palace, located in Jongno-gu, Seoul.
The debut of NewJeans was highly anticipated, especially considering the ongoing tensions between “mom”(ADOR CEO Min Hee-jin) and “dad”(HYBE Chairman Bang Si-hyuk). However, due to a foot injury, the group’s youngest member Hyein was unable to attend, resulting in a performance by only 4 members.
During the event, Danielle stepped in as the MC, easing fans’ disappointment over Hyein’s absence. She demonstrated her skills by speaking fluently in both Korean and English.
NewJeans, living up to their reputation as international icons, graced the final stage with their presence. They delivered a mesmerizing performance of their hit song “Cool With You”at the historic Geunjeongjeon Hall in Gyeongbokgung Palace, leaving a lasting impression. This achievement by NewJeans is especially noteworthy as they are the first K-pop girl group to take the stage at Geunjeongjeon, a national treasure, following in the footsteps of BTS who performed there in 2020.
Following the release of the special performance recording video at Geunjeongjeon, NewJeans took to the stage to showcase their songs “Ditto”, “ETA”, and “Super Shy”. To enhance the cultural aspect of their performance, they adorned traditional hanbok attire, highlighting the beauty of Korean culture.
NewJeans conveyed their appreciation, stating, “Although we have performed in numerous locations, being given the opportunity to perform at the national treasure Gyeongbokgung is exceptionally significant and a great honor.”

On May 24th, NewJeans will be unveiling their highly anticipated new double single, “How Sweet”. This new album will consist of the title track, as well as “Bubble Gum”, along with instrumental versions of both songs, making a total of four tracks. The release of the music is scheduled for 1 PM on May 24th, and the music video for “How Sweet”will also be premiered at 4 PM on the same day.
