NewJeans Surges on MelOn Top 100 Chart in 1 Hour, but RM Fails to Enter?

NewJeans’ double single title track “How Sweet”was released at 1 PM (KST) on May 24. By 2 PM, just 1 hour after its release, the song had already entered the Melon Top 100 chart at 7th place. The pre-release track “Bubble Gum,”which was also released on the same day, achieved a ranking of 14th. In addition, “How Sweet”set a new record for the highest number of listeners in an hour for a K-pop idol song released on Melon this year.

Despite releasing the song at 1 PM on a Friday, a time when there are typically fewer users compared to the more popular slot at 6 PM, this achievement highlights the considerable excitement for NewJeans’ comeback.

The recent release of “Hype Boy”and “ETA”by NewJeans resulted in both songs climbing two positions on the Melon Top 100 chart, placing at 25th and 41st, respectively. Additionally, other tracks such as “Super Shy,””Ditto,””Attention,”and “OMG”maintained their positions within the top 100.

On the other hand, despite releasing new music at 1 PM on the same day, BTS’s RM was unable to make it into the Top 100.

Despite releasing his second solo album “Right Place, Wrong Person”on that day, RM was disappointed to find that none of the 11 tracks he had worked on before enlisting made it to the Top 100.

At 4 PM, the music video for NewJeans’ song “How Sweet”will be released. Additionally, NewJeans will kick off their comeback activities with their performance on KBS2’s “Music Bank”later that same day.
