On the latest episode of KBS Cool FM’s “Park Myung-soo’s Radio Show”on August 19th, Yoon Sung-ho, also known as “NewJeansNim”due to his rising fame, made a guest appearance.
During the weekend, Park Myung-soo introduced Yoon Sung-ho as he was DJing at a water park in Hongcheon. He also mentioned that the guest for the day was NewJeansNim, who had recently released a new song.
Park Myung-soo inquired with NewJeansNim, “You seem to have taken on a lot of my gigs lately due to your busy schedule. How occupied are you these days?”
“I’ve been busy with musical missionary work, and I’ve been traveling a lot. In fact, I was in Hongcheon the week before you were. It was scorching hot and I almost burned my fingers while handling the equipment. The gear was so hot, I joked that you could cook an egg on it. Speaking of events, I heard you went to the Busan Beer Festival. I was there too.”
Park Myung-soo was curious about how a monk could attend a beer festival, to which NewJeansNim responded, “I don’t actually partake in drinking, I simply go to ensure that others have a enjoyable experience.”
Initially, he denied being inspired by girl group NewJeans when asked about his name, stating that it meant to progress in a different direction. Nevertheless, when questioned about the possibility of NewJeansNim existing without NewJeans, he amusingly confessed, “Probably not.”He also mentioned that he anticipated receiving complaints, but assumed they were too occupied to bother.
In the latter portion of the performance, Yoon Sung-ho revealed his income, stating that “NewJeansNim doesn’t prioritize making money because he values non-possession, so I take the profits. I only treat him to bibimbap. My earnings account for approximately two-thirds of Park Myung-soo’s.”
