NewJeans’s Minji Gets Teased by Hanni for Flirting at Sejong University Festival

On June 1st, Minji used the fan communication platform Phoning to connect with Bunnies, the fandom of NewJeans. During the interaction, she addressed the fans by saying, “I want to clarify that the person in the university festival video is not me. Please refrain from watching it.”

“She recalled, “Pham Hanni used to tease me constantly. I often wonder why I behaved that way at Sejong University and regret wearing a hat.”

Minji’s band, NewJeans, has recently taken the stage at various university festivals. They performed at Korea University on May 25th, Chosun University on May 27th, Dongeui University and Busan University on May 28th, Sejong University on May 30th, and Chung-Ang University on May 31st. Along with their popular hits, such as “How Sweet”and “Bubble Gum,”NewJeans received enthusiastic support and applause from the crowd. Furthermore, the group has decided to donate all proceeds from their university festival shows.

Minji’s performance at Sejong University garnered attention, especially when she appeared on stage wearing a hat. Her actions, such as blowing hand kisses to the audience and playfully loosening her tie, caused a frenzy among fans. A fancam capturing Minji’s performance quickly spread among her dedicated followers.

Following the festival, Hanni and Danielle brought up Minji’s flirtatious gesture on a live broadcast and playfully teased her with great enthusiasm.

Despite this, NewJeans has maintained their dominance on both Korean and international charts with the release of their new double single “How Sweet” . The title track, also titled “How Sweet” , has reached No.85 on Spotify’s Global Weekly Top Song chart and has taken the top spot in both Korea and Taiwan.

On charts within the country, such as Melon, “How Sweet” and “Bubble Gum” held the second and third positions, respectively, demonstrating the group’s widespread appeal. Additionally, NewJeans claimed the top spot on popular music programs like “Show Champion” and “Music Bank.”

NewJeans has announced that they will be releasing their Japanese debut single, “Supernatural,”on June 21st. They will also be hosting a two-day fanmeeting at Tokyo Dome on the 26th and 27th of June to celebrate the release.
