With the first preseason games set to begin in September, hockey season is quickly approaching. In late August, EA Sports jumpstarted the excitement by revealing initial details about the new game.
EA announced details about new gameplay features, the cover athletes, and the release date for this year’s game. It will be the earliest release since the game migrated to Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5, by the way.
Let’s take a closer look at the current information available on NHL 25.

NHL 25 Availability for Nintendo Switch and PC
Unfortunately, NHL 25 will not be available on either the Nintendo Switch or PC.
As of now, no NHL game has been released for the Switch. The most recent release for the PC was NHL 09. The developers have announced that they are currently prioritizing the release of NHL 25 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, and there are no current plans to bring the game to PC.
Will NHL 25 be available for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4?
There will not be a version of NHL 25 for Xbox One or PlayStation 4.
This is the first instance since 2014 where a game will not be released for either two consoles.
New features
In terms of gameplay, EA plans to implement next-generation vision controls, along with new animations and improved one-timers. During our interview with EA in August about NHL 25, the development team shared that agility and acceleration attributes will heavily impact the next-gen vision control feature. This means that players with higher ratings in these attributes will have an easier time shifting direction.
Their gameplay trailer, released in early September, provided EA with an opportunity to delve into more details about the gameplay.
Furthermore, adjustments have been made to the pressure system. According to developers, in NHL 25, players on the offensive will experience a higher stamina regeneration rate while utilizing full pressure.
Furthermore, EA plans to implement a unified progression system in Hockey Ultimate Team for Squad Battles, Rivals, and the recently announced Wildcard mode. Further information will be released in the upcoming weeks.
