Niantic has at last addressed the performance issues with Monster Hunter Now that have been disrupting hunts for players on both Android and iOS devices.
Despite playing on new hardware like the OnePlus 12R Genshin Impact Edition, the performance issues in Monster Hunter Now have only worsened in recent months, particularly since the V75 update. It has become nearly impossible to go on a single hunt without experiencing freezes or lag spikes.
Furthermore, it appears that this issue is not limited to a singular occurrence. Numerous players have expressed their grievances on both the official forum and the Monster Hunter Now Reddit page.
After a period of silence, Niantic has finally addressed the performance issues with the game. Here is what the developers have in store.
In a statement released on the official Monster Hunter Now website, Niantic addressed concerns regarding lag and freezing issues. They acknowledged that some devices may experience performance degradation and assured users that they are actively working on improvements. The upcoming app update is expected to bring a performance boost, particularly during Zinogre hunts.
Since the release of the V75 update, the frequency of performance drops has significantly increased. Numerous players have reported experiencing lag and game freezes during hunts, as evident in this Reddit thread (https://www.reddit.com/r/MHNowGame/comments/1bxhdsx/is_lag_starting_to_get_worse/). These issues have also been observed by users with newer devices, such as the iPhone 15 and Galaxy S24 Ultra. What makes this even more frustrating is that the lag can be quite severe, with some freezes lasting for several seconds.
The gameplay of Monster Hunter Now requires speed and quick reactions to avoid fatal hits and launch attacks, making the performance issues highly detrimental. Although a few players have mentioned that playing in splitscreen mode has partly resolved these issues, it is only a temporary solution that Niantic is eager to resolve.
It is not ideal to use more Potions due to a game freeze and ultimately miss out on a successful kill. Those who play Monster Hunter Now on an iPhone 8 or similar hardware may no longer be able to fully enjoy the game. According to Niantic, the company is currently considering whether they can continue supporting the iPhone 8, which has been a supported device since the game’s initial release, as it is no longer eligible for OS updates.
“This advice is also relevant for devices with CPUs that offer similar performance. If you are currently using one of these devices and are encountering performance problems, we suggest considering an upgrade.”
Hopefully, Niantic will release the Monster Hunter Now performance patch in a timely manner before the next content update is released.
