Nicholas Hoult Surprised by Nosferatu Gift from Director Robert Eggers

The highly anticipated horror remake, Nosferatu, is set to grace US cinemas on December 25. As the release date approaches, lead actor Nicholas Hoult has shared an outrageous anecdote involving an unexpected x-rated gift from the film’s director.

Directed by the acclaimed Robert Eggers and featuring a star-studded cast that includes Bill Skarsgård, Willem Dafoe, Lily-Rose Depp, and Nicholas Hoult, Nosferatu stands as one of the most awaited horror films of the year.

First Impressions of Nosferatu

We had the opportunity to preview the film and noted in our Nosferatu review that this is a cinematic experience that demands a theater setting. The film’s chilling artistry and dark themes are unlikely to translate well to a home viewing environment: “Watching ghostly shadows emerge in a pitch-black room surrounded by strangers offers a transformative experience, and the film indeed delivers.”

With its US debut on Christmas Day followed by a UK release on January 1, excitement continues to build for the film. During promotional activities, Nicholas Hoult revealed a startling and humorous confession regarding his odd keepsake from the project.

An Unexpected Keepsake: Nosferatu’s Prosthetic

In a chat featured on Elle’s platform, Hoult shared an amusing story with co-star Lily-Rose Depp: “I now have Count Orlok’s prosthetic penis framed at home. There’s a scene where Bill Skarsgård is sipping my blood, and afterward, Robert Eggers casually asked how I felt about it. I remarked that I could feel his prosthetic on my leg.” Following this, as a wrap gift, Eggers humorously sent the framed piece to Hoult’s residence.

When the unique present arrived, there was a slight mishap. “The frame was broken upon delivery, so I took it to a framer,” Hoult explained. “The employee didn’t seem phased at first, but when I returned to pick it up, it dawned on him just how peculiar it was that I was framing a vampire’s prosthetic penis. He asked, ‘Is this some kind of collector’s piece?’ To which I responded, ‘Well, you could say that!’”

This quirky story certainly adds an unusual twist to the film’s promotional narrative, showcasing the light-hearted creativity that can emerge from the eerie world of horror filmmaking.
