NICKMERCS Returns to Apex Legends Despite Claiming Hate from the Community

Months after leaving the competitive scene of Apex Legends, streamer NICKMERCS has made a comeback to the multiplayer shooter.

In the fall of 2021, Nick ‘NICKMERCS’ Kolcheff started taking the game more seriously and just months later, he joined the North American ALGS Pro League, turning pro in 2022.

Despite his success as an ALGS pro, NICKMERCS’ time in the league was short-lived. In early 2024, he left the league and announced his return to Call of Duty, expressing his dissatisfaction with the “corny”Apex community. He also stated that other pros and prominent players in the scene held negative feelings towards him.

In a surprising twist, the content creator returned to the world of Apex Legends on September 3, 2024 through a live stream on Twitch. In a social media post announcing the stream, he wrote, “We’re back.”

NICKMERCS has recently returned to the Apex Legends scene, inspired by a tweet he posted on September 1st. In the tweet, he expressed his longing to compete in gaming and his desire to get back to work with his trusty controller. The only question now is, which game will he choose to conquer?

The subsequent post was shared two days after, featuring a link to his Twitch stream for Apex Legends. It is still unclear if this indicates his intention to rejoin professional leagues for Apex or not, as he has not provided any definite updates.

During the summer, NICKMERCS took a break from streaming for a few weeks. He later revealed that the reason for his extended absence was due to a lack of interest in the games available at the time.

Clearly, there was something that sparked his interest in giving Apex Legends another try. With the recent launch of Season 22 by developer Respawn Entertainment on August 6, featuring a new map and gameplay changes, it seems like the perfect opportunity for a comeback.
