NieR: Automata Anime Part 2 Announces Exact July 2024 Release Date with Key Visual

The official staff for the NieR: Automata anime has announced that part 2 will be released on July 5, 2024. On Wednesday, June 12, 2024, the staff also revealed the full key visual for the sequel, which was drawn by the character designer and chief animation director, Jun Nakai. The staff had been teasing the illustration leading up to the announcement.

The second part of the NieR: Automata anime serves as a continuation of the first, which was originally released in 2023. It is worth noting that the anime is an adaptation of the widely acclaimed action role-playing game, developed by PlatinumGames and published by Square Enix.

NieR: Automata Anime Part 2 Release Date

On Wednesday, June 12, 2024, the official website and X (formerly Twitter) account for the NieR: Automata anime part 2 revealed that the series will be debuting on July 5, 2024, during the Summer 2024 anime season. At the same time, the broadcast information has been released.

The announcement states that the second part of the NieR: Automata anime will begin airing on Friday, July 5, 2024, at 11:30 PM JST on Tokyo MX, Tochigi TV, BS11, and Gunma TV.

The upcoming installment of the anime will be broadcasted on Yomiuri TV every Monday at 2:29 AM JST starting on July 9, 2024. It will also air on Chukyo TV on July 10, 2024, at 1:57 AM JST. Additionally, other channels such as Sapporo TV and Fukuoka Broadcasting will also be showing the anime.

In Japan, DMM TV, d Anime Store, ABEMA, U-NExt, Animehodai, Bandai Channel, Huly, Prime Video, and other platforms have obtained the streaming rights for the anime. It should be noted that the first part was streamed by Crunchyroll, leaving uncertainty as to whether or not Part 2 will also be available on this platform.

In addition to revealing the release date and broadcast details, the second part of the NieR: Automata anime has also unveiled a key visual. This illustration is the complete version of the teasers that the staff has been sharing with fans for a while.

The image features 2B, 9S, and A2, three androids lying on the ground, with a red-clad girl standing nearby. Notably, the artwork was created by Jun Nakai, the chief animation director and designer for the series.

Despite the lack of confirmation from the official team, it is anticipated that the same members from the first part will return to reprise their roles. Part 1 was directed by Ryouji Masayuma at A-1 Pictures, with Masayuma also responsible for the series composition.

Jun Nakai served as the chief animation director and designer, with MONACA responsible for composing the music. LISA provided the opening theme song, “Black Box,”for part 2 of the NieR: Automata anime. Information about the new ending theme has not been revealed at this time.

About the anime

The plot of NieR: Automata anime takes inspiration from the original ARPG game and is situated in a post-apocalyptic society where robots have taken over the planet, forcing humans to flee.

With the goal of reclaiming their land, humanity places its trust in the Android forces. The narrative of the series revolves around A2, 2B, and 9S as they embark on a mission to defeat the mechanical beings from a different world and rescue Earth.
