According to the anime’s website and X (formerly Twitter) handle, the second part of the NieR: Automata anime is scheduled to debut in July 2024, during the Summer 2024 season. The announcement was made by the staff through a new promotional video and teaser visual on Tuesday, May 28, 2024. Additionally, the short clip also unveiled information about the anime’s opening theme song and its artist.
The second part of the NieR: Automata anime is a continuation of the first, which originally aired in 2023. The series is based on the popular action role-playing game of the same name, created by PlatinumGames and distributed by Square Enix.
NieR: Automata Part 2 Official Trailer and Visual Confirm July 2024 Premiere
On Tuesday, May 28, 2024, NieR: Automata’s official site and X account streamed a new promotional video, titled “Promotion File 11.”The video announced that the second part of the NieR: Automata anime will be released in July 2024, during the summer of that year.
The brief video starts with a young girl describing the responsibilities of an Android. This is followed by a switch to an exciting action sequence, showcasing 2B and 9S battling alongside the machine life forms in order to protect the planet.
Despite not divulging significant details of the plot, the video still provides fans with a glimpse of what to expect in the upcoming installment. The PV concludes with a foreboding statement from 2B, while also solidifying the anime’s release date for July 2024.
The opening theme song for the second part of the NieR: Automata anime has also been confirmed. As stated in the announcement, the Japanese singer LiSA will be performing the song, Black Box.
The PV (Promotion File 11) offers a preview of snippets from the track. The official staff for the anime also disclosed that Akita Hiromu of Amazarashi composed the lyrics for the song Black Box. He also wrote the lyrics for the ending theme of part 1, Antimony.
Both LiSA and Akita Hiromu have left comments on the anime’s website and X handle. The Japanese singer expressed her joy at being entrusted with the song “Black Box”by Akita from Amazarashi. Similarly, Akita-san expressed his honor at being involved in the franchise once again and believes that LiSA’s voice has done justice to the song.
The third visual for the NieR: Automata anime part 2 has been revealed, in addition to the PV and the opening theme.
The image showcases a pair of red feet belonging to a girl. According to the sci-fi anime’s official website, the visual was created by the character designer and chief animation director, Jun Nakai.
