Nijisanji VTuber Shares Earnings from Merchandise Sales Before Graduation

Former Nijisanji VTuber Kunai Nakasato has disclosed the surprisingly low earnings she received from merchandise during her time with the talent agency prior to her graduation.

Kunai Nakasato debuted in the Nijisanji EN division in October 2023 and graduated just eleven months later, in September 2024. This marks one of the shortest tenures for a VTuber at the agency, and recently revealed information regarding her earnings may provide insight into her early departure.

Now known as SunnySplosion in her independent streaming career, she shared during a live stream, “By the way, guys, I did some theoretical math here. If I sell like 12 bundles, I will have made the same amount from merch as I did in my entire heist,” using ‘heist’ to signify her time spent at Nijisanji.

The bundle mentioned by Sunny is part of her birthday merchandise, retailing at $77.77 USD. Therefore, selling twelve of these bundles would yield $933.24, indicating that her total earnings from merchandise were under $1,000 USD throughout her nine-month tenure as a Nijisanji EN Liver.

It’s important to note that this figure does not include SuperChats, sponsorships, advertising revenue, or Memberships. Hence, her total earnings from all these sources would be significantly higher. However, her remarks imply that the share talents receive from merchandise sales is quite minimal.

Previously, ex-Nijisanji member Mysta Rias stated he received “around 1%” from merchandise sales, while a “highly reliable source” informed YouTuber FalseEyeD that the percentage ranges from 1% to 3%. These figures have not been officially confirmed or denied by Nijisanji, as no official earnings breakdown has been made public.

Kunai Nakasato, under the name SunnySplosion, was part of TTT, a fan-given name for a generation that Nijisanji did not officially name. This ninth generation wave also did not debut with its own song, with fellow talents Maria Marionette and Enna Alouette performing their theme song instead.

Regrettably, TTT’s existence as a complete wave was short-lived, as Kunai graduated within a year of her debut. Additionally, it has been confirmed that Victoria Brightshield will also be graduating, scheduled for November 9, 2024, leaving Claude Clawmark as the final active member of the wave.
