Nintendo refuses to reveal developer of Mario & Luigi Brothership

Nintendo has decided to keep the developer of Mario & Luigi: Brothership a secret until its release date.

The Nintendo Direct in June 2024 revealed a number of highly anticipated titles for Switch players, including The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom and Metroid Prime 4: Beyond.

Amidst all the excitement surrounding Zelda as the main character, Nintendo also released trailers for a few upcoming Mario games.

Mario fans have had an incredible year with the release of the remake of Super Mario RPG, Princess Peach: Showtime, and other exciting games.

Despite the poor sales numbers of 2009’s Bowser’s Inside Story, the most recent Mario & Luigi game, many thought the series had ended. However, the return of the sibling duo in Mario & Luigi: Brothership has reassured fans of the series and sparked excitement for the future.

After almost 15 years, Nintendo has made the decision to revive the series.

Despite revealing a brief preview of what potential players can anticipate from Mario & Luigi: Brothership, Nintendo has opted to keep the developer’s identity a secret until its release date.

This is not the first instance of Nintendo using this business strategy. In the past, the company did not reveal the change in Mario’s voice for Super Mario Bros. Wonder or the developer responsible for the Super Mario RPG remake.

According to a report by Game File, the team working on the original Mario & Luigi games is also involved in the development of Brothership. Details will be disclosed in the game’s credits. Despite this, Alphadream, the original developer of the games, declared bankruptcy in 2019.

After Hiroyuki Kubota became a part of Monolith Soft, ILCA hired several ex-employees from Alphadream, causing speculation among fans that Monolith Soft may have been involved in the development of Mario & Luigi: Brothership. However, it is also possible that another Nintendo studio was responsible.

We will continue to inform you when Nintendo officially announces the individuals responsible for Mario and Luigi’s upcoming RPG journey.
