On June 19, Jeewon, a member of cignature, made an appearance on the YouTube channel “No Bbaku Tak Jae Hoon.”
In the midst of the episode, Yuna Ogura, a Japanese adult actress, noticed Jeewon’s physical proportions and proposed that she should consider making her debut as a porn star. Despite the other hosts’ efforts to deflect and dismiss the remark, the controversial statement immediately received backlash from netizens.
On June 21, the variety show posted an official statement on its community, in which they apologized for the incident and acknowledged that it was caused by the show’s production team.
The production team also met with Jeewon and the representatives of C9 Entertainment to offer their apologies during the show.
The statement further mentioned that Tak Hae Hoon had expressed his disapproval of the questions asked to Jeewon and that the show had offered an apology to him as his intentions did not align with the editing process.
“Bbaku Tak Jae Hoon”then expressed remorse for not being fully cognizant of any societal issues or potential controversy that their actions may have caused. Moreover, the channel pledged to prioritize their content creation to prevent similar errors in the future.
Please refer to the complete statement below:
“Hello. This is the production team of, ‘No Bbaku Tak Jae Hoon.’
First of all, to all the viewers who may have felt uncomfortable watching the last ‘Tanaka & Yuna Ogura’ episode, we bow our heads and apologize to you without any excuses.
This issue is entirely the fault of the production team.
We are also acknowledging that there was no consideration for Jeewon, who joined MC as a newcomer. As viewers were concerned, the production team met with Jeewon herself and the officials of C9 Entertainment to deliver a sincere apology.
We would also like to apologize to Mr. Tak Jae Hoon for the fact that he was discouraged during the recording process after realizing that the question asked to Jeewon was wrong, but it was edited in such a way, and that Mr. Tak’s intentions were not reflected during the editing process, which was done for the sake of entertainment.
We have been creating programs to entertain male viewers with the concept of “Nopaku”(no quitting) concept, but as the channel has grown with undeserved love and attention, we regret not being deeply aware that our indiscretions can be socially controversial.
This controversy has prompted all production teams to pay closer attention throughout the content creation process. We will do our best to repay those who support us in ‘No BbakuTak Jae Joon.’”
C9 Entertainment also released an official statement addressing the matter on the same day.
Recently, C9 received criticism from internet users for Jeewon and Yuna Ogura’s dance challenge. For further details about the incident, click here.
