No Big-name Cast yet for K-drama Hierarchy Triumphs on Netflix’s Non-English Series?

Netflix reported on June 19 that the K-drama “Hierarchy”garnered 6.3 million views (calculated by dividing the total viewing time by the runtime) from June 10th to 16th, securing its rank as the top non-English TV series.

The show was among the top 10 in a total of 72 countries, with first place rankings in Korea, Taiwan, Indonesia, Hong Kong, and the Philippines.

This is an incredibly impressive accomplishment, particularly when considering that the actors and actresses in the cast of “Hierarchy”are mostly newcomers without a large fan base.

“The plot of “Hierarchy”centers around a new student who enrolls in Jushin High School, a prestigious institution with a clear divide between the wealthy elite and struggling scholarship students. The protagonist, hiding a secret, delves into a murder investigation and uncovers the shocking truth. The series has garnered praise from viewers around the world for its captivating portrayal of teenage scandal and fashion.”

Moreover, the portrayals of Roh Jeong-eui, Lee Chae-min, Kim Jae-won, Ji Hye-won, and Lee Won-jung have garnered acclaim for their authentic depiction of the struggles and development of young individuals who rebel against the societal hierarchy imposed by their elders.

In response to this, Roh Jeong-eui expressed her overwhelming joy, stating, “I am beyond words with happiness. I am deeply thankful to all those involved in ‘Hierarchy’, and I wholeheartedly extend my gratitude to the audience for giving me the opportunity to achieve the top global ranking in my life.”

At the same time, Lee Chae-min expressed, “The immense amount of love I am receiving brings me joy every day.”
