As Sensei and his party make their way towards the Dritten Cathedral, they reach the Samstag desert region where they are met with intense heat. It is worth noting that this is Nir’s hometown, and he takes on the role of the group’s guide.
Despite Annette and Tama’s impressive abilities to fight off the gang of Otherworlders who demand money, Nir becomes paralyzed with fear. The Otherworlders’ leader, Toru, uses his venomous scorpion to intimidate Sensei and the rest of their group.
Surprisingly, Dazai’s natural venom quickly overpowers the scorpion’s sting. As a result, Toru and his comrades hear a distant howl and decide to depart from the area. In the meantime, Nir appears downcast, prompting Dazai and the others to offer him comfort. The boy then leads them to an orphanage, where he spent his childhood.
Nir’s foster grandmother, Kathy, extends an invitation for the party to join her at her shelter and enjoy a meal. She discloses that someone kind has been generously providing them with food, without revealing their identity. As the night progresses, the party is startled by a loud howl. Kathy explains that a menacing wolf has been roaming the area in recent days.
A little time had passed when Nir caught sight of a figure standing by the window in the dark. Upon closer inspection, he realizes that the person is holding food ingredients. It turns out to be Saito, who confesses that he has been discreetly donating food to the orphanage because he finds joy in seeing the happy faces of the children. However, later that night, Toru’s gang comes back to extort money from the orphanage.
Despite his fear, Nir is unable to move as Annette and Tama engage in combat and one of the children is abducted by their enemy in order to threaten Kathy and the rest of the group. Fortunately, Saito arrives in time and takes the boy to safety. Overwhelmed with emotion, Nir breaks down in tears for not being able to find the courage to act.
Saito is deeply touched by the boy’s gentle and empathetic demeanor. Later, it is revealed that Saito is not from this world and has the ability to transform into a werewolf. In a fit of rage, he attacks Toru’s gang. However, when he is about to deliver the final blow to Toru, Nir bravely steps in front of him. Seeing Nir’s face reminds Saito of his beloved friend from his past life and he immediately stops his rampage.
Nir’s main concern is that Saito stays true to himself. The episode then delves into Saito’s past, revealing that he, like Nir, experienced the loss of his parents at a young age and was left disabled by an accident. Saito lived a solitary existence until he met a friend who extended a helping hand.
Despite Saito’s efforts, he was unable to protect his friend from a group of bullies when he ran away. He believes that if he could have moved his legs, he could have made a difference. However, after hearing the man’s story, Sensei disagrees and believes Saito’s excuse about his legs is unfounded. On the other hand, Nir tells Dazai that not everyone possesses the same strength as him and that he can empathize with Saito’s situation as he himself struggles with cowardice at times.
Nir’s words have a profound effect on Sensei, inspiring him to write a story for Saito. Utilizing his powers, Osamu Dazai is able to send the Otherworlder back to his own world. The episode concludes with Saito joyfully reuniting with his friend on Earth.
