On the 16th (local time), the foreign media outlet China Times reported the passing of Chui Siu-keung, who succumbed to esophageal cancer earlier this month. The report stated that his wife also tragically died from a heart attack due to exhaustion and grief while organizing his funeral. She was only 43 years old. Their children are currently managing the funeral arrangements and related matters.
Chui had experienced two previous divorces. After relocating to Beijing, he met his wife, who was 30 years his junior, and they married in 2005, marking a new chapter in his life. He is survived by two sons and two daughters.
Many individuals are expressing their condolences and honoring the family, who have unexpectedly lost both parents. One of the daughters conveyed her appreciation during an interview for the kindness shown towards their grieving family and mentioned that they are carefully planning the funeral.
Chui began his career in 1970 and appeared in a wide array of works, with notable films including “Bastard Swordsman.”
Esophageal cancer is typically diagnosed in men around their 60s and is closely linked to alcohol and tobacco consumption. Treatment options usually consist of surgery, radiation therapy, and chemotherapy.
To reduce the risk of esophageal cancer, it is essential to limit alcohol use, cease smoking, and maintain a balanced diet. It is also advisable to avoid charred foods and processed meats high in nitrates, such as ham and sausages.
