Not Only Coachella: LE SSERAFIM’s Sakura Criticized for Poor Singing and Dancing Abilities in Korea

In recent news, LE SSERAFIM has faced criticism for their underwhelming performance at the 2024 Coachella music festival. While the group received praise for their impressive visuals and stage presence, their live singing fell short. With members constantly dancing and singing simultaneously, HYBE’s girl group appeared out of breath and off-key, with Sakura’s performance being the most controversial. Many are left perplexed as to why an idol with over 15 years of experience like Sakura would deliver such a disappointing show.

The Japanese idol further fueled the excitement by proclaiming that the performance on the Coachella stage was the group’s greatest one yet.

Born on March 19th, 1998 in Japan, Miyawaki Sakura was once a member of the popular Japanese idol group HKT48. In 2018, she took part in “Produce 48″and was selected as the center for the show’s theme song “Nekkoya”. She placed 2nd overall and spent approximately 3 years as a member of the girl group IZ*ONE. Recently, in 2022, she joined the group LE SSERAFIM.

During “Produce 48”, Sakura was repeatedly embroiled in controversy due to her lack of skills. One incident that stood out was during the rehearsal for the song “Very Very Very”, where she was given the center position. However, the judges were disappointed with the group’s performance after watching it.

Judge Soyou expressed her disappointment, stating that she found it difficult to pay attention to the group’s performance. She questioned why Sakura, who she believed had ruined the performance, was placed in the center position. The judge criticized Sakura’s pronunciation and fast, out of rhythm dancing. Despite being the center, Sakura did not perform well. The judge questioned the decision to give the center position to someone who was not skilled. However, at that point in time, it was not possible to change the center position, so Sakura remained in that role.
