Criticism has recently surfaced surrounding LE SSERAFIM following their less-than-impressive showing at the 2024 Coachella music festival. While their stage presence and visuals were highly praised, their live singing left much to be desired. The group, known to be constantly dancing and singing simultaneously, appeared out of breath and off-key, with Sakura, in particular, receiving backlash. Many have questioned how an experienced idol like Sakura, with over 15 years in the industry, could deliver such a subpar performance.
The Japanese idol further ignited the fire by stating that the Coachella stage was the group’s greatest performance to date.
Born on March 19th, 1998 in Japan, Miyawaki Sakura was previously a member of the popular Japanese idol group HKT48. In 2018, she joined the competition show “Produce 48″where she was selected as the center for the theme song “Nekkoya”. Despite finishing in second place, Sakura was able to debut as a member of the highly successful girl group IZ*ONE and remained active for approximately 3 years. Recently, in 2022, she has become a member of the rising group LE SSERAFIM.
During her time on “Produce 48”, Sakura also encountered several controversies regarding her incomplete skills. One notable incident was during the rehearsal for the “Very Very Very”stage, where she was chosen as the center. However, the judges were disappointed with the group’s performance after watching it.
Judge Soyou expressed her disappointment with the group, stating, “I was unable to focus on their performance. I don’t understand why Sakura was placed in the center position. Her presence has ruined everything. Her pronunciation is lacking and her dancing is out of rhythm, yet she remains in the center. It’s a shame she didn’t perform well. Why would someone who is not skilled be given such an important position?”Unfortunately, due to circumstances, the center position could not be changed and Sakura continued to hold that position.
