Now recruit Minthara while saving the Emerald Grove in Baldur’s Gate 3

In Baldur’s Gate 3, Minthara has seen many changes in terms of how to add her to your team. However, the latest patch introduced another way to make sure she joins you if you don’t do an evil run.

Act 1 of Baldur’s Gate 3 revolves around one main event: attacking the Emerald Grove or saving it. You can choose to ally with the Goblins and help them destroy it, defend the Grove, or simply kill the Goblin leaders and prevent any raids from happening.

Previously, Minthara could only be recruited if you decided to kill the Goblin leaders and neutralize her using non-lethal damage. This change was made by Larian Studios in an old patch. Indeed, players wanted a way to add him to their team without having to attack the Grove.

However, the only way to do so was to neutralize her in the Goblin camp. If you had defended the Grove from attack, this type of recruitment was not possible. But good news. Since the release of Patch 6, this has changed.

Players were exultant when Reddit user u/lessenizer confirmed in a post that yes, you can now recruit Minthara even if you decide to defend the Grove. Here’s how you can do it.

Step by step, here’s what you need to do:

  • Speak to Minthara in Goblin Camp and give her information about the Emerald Grove.
  • Don’t kill the Goblin leaders.
  • Take a Long Rest.
  • Return to the Grove immediately and warn Zevlor of the impending attack.
  • Help the Tieflings and Druids defend the Emerald Grove.
  • Use non-lethal damage on Minthara to neutralize her.
  • Find her in Highlune Towers in Act 2.
  • Recruit Minthara.

The most important part of this whole process is to make sure that you use non-lethal damage on Minthara to neutralize her. If she dies at any point in Act 1, you will not be able to find her in Highlune Towers.

If you want to save Halsin during this run, you should also make sure to do so before talking to Minthara. However, do not take it with you, as this will make everyone in the Goblin camp hostile towards you and you will not be able to recruit Minthara this way. It’s best left in the prison and should appear at the Emerald Grove later in Baldur’s Gate 3.
