Now you really forcing it – Boruto Fans Put in Check by Dragon Ball Community After Latest Gohan Claim

Boruto fans have been highly appreciative of the direction in which their protagonist has evolved after the Two Blue Vortex timeskip. However, a recent event on X saw them pitting him against Dragon Ball’s Gohan, resulting in unfavorable outcomes for Boruto. As both characters are the offspring of the original protagonists in their respective series, there have been numerous comparisons made between them, some valid and others not so much.

It’s understandable why people would be eager to compare the two characters, given the popularity of Dragon Ball. However, the idea that Boruto was a better-written character than Gohan and “everything they wanted him to be”was quickly dismantled by the Dragon Ball fandom. This not only received a strong rebuttal but also highlighted the various misconceptions people have about these characters and their development.

Please be aware that this article includes spoilers for the series.

Dragon Ball Fans Reject Idea of Boruto Being a Better Character Than Gohan

A user on X expressed their opinion that Boruto is a more well-developed character than Gohan from Dragon Ball, leading to intense reactions from both fanbases. This is not surprising as many members of the anime and manga community have not fully embraced author Masashi Kishimoto’s sequel, and Gohan has a dedicated and passionate following within the medium.

It is easy to comprehend the comparisons between these two characters, as they are both the sons of well-known battle shonen protagonists. However, it can be argued that they have followed different paths. Many fans of Gohan believe that his character has reached greater heights compared to Naruto’s son, with his transformation into Super Saiyan 2 during his battle against Cell being hailed as one of the most memorable moments in the franchise and anime in general.

Alternatively, it must be acknowledged that many Gohan supporters are satisfied with how his character has developed over the years. Although his fight against Super Buu in the latter’s arc left something to be desired and his early appearances in Super seemed to follow a similar path, the majority of his fans are pleased with the way he has found a balance between his role as a family man and a fighter.

Despite attempts to compare and critique, it appears that there is a lack of understanding about Gohan’s characterization and the desires of most fans for him. One prevalent misunderstanding is that Gohan, although intelligent and level-headed, was never depicted as overly serious or brooding, a fact that many seem to overlook when discussing his personality.

It is widely accepted among fans that the protagonist is a pacifist, much like Goku and Vegeta, and this aspect of his character has been consistent since the conclusion of the Cell arc. Recent developments in the Dragon Ball Super manga have shown that he has managed to find a sense of equilibrium, a quality that has been highly praised by the majority of fans.

“Any Dragon Ball character bodies the entire Naruto universe and it’s not even close,”someone said.

“Mmm, nah. I want I like Gohan the way he is, just wanted him to train more,”another person said.

“Nah, Gohan is pretty good as he is, he never liked to fight and now he dedicates himself to his childhood dream, research,”someone else said.

Although many may have wished for Gohan to have a larger presence in the series, particularly in comparison to characters like Goku, Vegeta, and even Piccolo to some extent, it is understandable that he did not reach the same level as his father. This is in contrast to Boruto, who has his own series and serves as the main character, rather than his father, Naruto.

“Nah we’re good I dont want Gohan to become Vegeta Jr,”someone said.

“Gohan >>> ur whole cast,”another person said.

Undoubtedly, personal preferences are a subjective matter. Nevertheless, the Dragon Ball fandom expressed their disagreement with this perspective.
