Exciting news for fans of the Call of Duty franchise: the legendary multiplayer map, Nuketown, makes its long-awaited comeback in Black Ops 6 after a four-year hiatus.
Much like the appreciation for Shipment, Nuketown holds a special place in the hearts of players as one of the series’ most cherished maps. This compact battlefield first debuted in Black Ops 2 back in 2012 and has since appeared in several subsequent installments.
Although it’s been a considerable time since players had the chance to engage in combat on this nuclear testing site, the wait is almost over. Treyarch has officially announced that Nuketown will be available starting November 1, just a week after Black Ops 6 is set for release on October 25.
At this point, the teaser doesn’t reveal much regarding whether the map will retain its classic layout or undergo any modifications.
While many fans are thrilled by this return, some concerns regarding past map designs linger among the community.

Black Ops 6 will launch with a total of 16 multiplayer maps, categorized into two distinct types. The four Strike maps are specifically crafted for either 2v2 or 6v6 matchups, while the remaining 12 are Core maps featuring the traditional structure that players have come to expect.
Treyarch has focused much of its efforts on designing small to medium-sized maps for this installment, leaving some players dissatisfied who prefer the classic three-lane map designs.
Nevertheless, the development team has reassured players that the majority of the 12 Core 6v6 maps will be medium-sized. Despite Nuketown’s popularity, it remains one of the smallest maps in Call of Duty’s extensive history.
This could potentially lead to some disappointment among gamers already voicing concerns over the prevalence of smaller maps. Thankfully, the eight Core 6v6 maps have yet to be revealed, leaving room for changing opinions about the map selection.
Moreover, BO6 introduces more than just the classic Nuketown; it also features Area 99, a new Resurgence Warzone map designed by Treyarch that draws inspiration from the iconic multiplayer battleground.
