Nvidia RTX 5060 Laptop GPU poised for big efficiency boost

A Chinese computer company has revealed exciting details about the upcoming laptop version of the RTX 5060 through a leak.

Shenzhen Hasee Computer Co, a Chinese company, specializes in manufacturing laptops, mini-PCs, and desktops. As a result, they have a wealth of insider information on the upcoming Nvidia graphics card models.

At a media briefing, Wu Haijun, the Chairman of the company, announced that the upcoming laptop models of the Nvidia GeForce RTX 5060 graphics cards will require only 115W of power, in contrast to the current RTX 40 series which needs 140W.

The chairperson further disclosed that the VRAM for the RTX 50 series laptop versions will be upgraded to GDDR7 memory, according to an article by Golden Pig Upgrades on Weibo (a Chinese microblogging website).

The upcoming RTX 50 series is anticipated to feature a 175W TGP for its high-end GN22-X11 and X9 WeUs, similar to the current GN21 RTX 40 series. However, the mid-range and low-end models are expected to be much more efficient, with a maximum TGP of 115W.

Not all laptops will be subject to the max TGP, as it is only applicable to the highest-end specifications for each WeU, referred to as the “Max-P”variant by Nvidia.

The RTX 5060 for laptops will maintain the same memory bus as the RTX 4060, with a width of 128-bits. This indicates that the RTX 5060 will also come equipped with 8GB of GDRR7 memory.

The anticipated lineup for the RTX 50 series includes the GB203, GB205, GB206, and GB207 models for mobile devices. This encompasses the high-end RTX 5080, while the budget options range from the RTX 5050 to the RTX 5030.

The GB202, considered the most powerful chip, is expected to be exclusively used for the RTX 5090 and will feature an upgraded 512-bit memory bus. Nevertheless, it is improbable that this chip will be utilized in a laptop setup.
