A Pokémon Go player was left “stunned”after the surprise appearance of an elusive costumed Gengar, but the good news is there’s a small chance you can find it too.
A Pokémon Go player known as u/erehtollehyhw recently shared a post on Reddit, showing off his impressive catch, namely the rare Gengar in a Sushi Chef costume in Shiny form. Available only during a brief event, the trainer explains that he is “stunned”by its appearance.

Good news! Be aware that you can also encounter a rare Ectoplasm, although the chances are quite slim. A Pokémon Go player explains in a comment: “I also got a Costume Gengar yesterday and it was from completing the Showdown in the Shadows research. I guess that’s how the author did it too.»
The person behind the comment then added: “This was an old search that was given automatically around October, I just never got around to finishing it hence the fact that I just got the reward.»
In fact, this Gengar was available as part of the Pokémon Go Halloween 2023 Special Research, so if you haven’t completed all the tasks yet, you might also have a Sushi Chef Gengar waiting for you as a reward.
