The MP7 has been a staple in the SMG meta of Warzone, having been a dominant force on Verdansk in the past. Although it fell out of favor upon its return as the VEL 46 in MW2 (2022), recent buffs in the Season 5 update have propelled it back to the top.
The latest update for Warzone’s Season 5 has increased the damage and modifiers of the VEL 46, making it a more powerful choice compared to popular options like the Static-HV and AMR9.
The MP7, now buffed, retains the same familiar feel as the original Warzone version. It boasts a high fire rate, manageable recoil, and sufficient damage to take down enemies at medium distances as long as you can maintain accuracy.
The VEL 46 stands out for its exceptionally clean iron sights, eliminating the need for an Optic attachment. This grants you the freedom to use that attachment slot for something else, increasing its potential for customization.
The main disadvantage is that it originates from MW2, resulting in it feeling slightly less mobile than MW3’s weapons. Nonetheless, this can be easily remedied by equipping attachments that enhance handling and mobility.
In his August 11 video, WhosImmortal, a well-known Call of Duty YouTuber, featured the MP7 (VEL 46) and expressed his pleasant surprise at the significant damage boost it received from the Season 5 buffs.
According to WhosImmortal, the VEL 46 is a top choice in Season 5 due to its easy-to-control recoil. He also mentioned that despite the damage it inflicts, he was surprised by the number of kills he was able to get with the weapon.
The VEL 46’s recoil is similarly smooth to the OG Warzone MP7, as it only requires a downward pull to maintain control and accuracy on the gun.
Therefore, if you are in search of a replacement for the close-to-medium range SMG following the Superi 46’s nerfs, this weapon may be ideal for you, particularly if you are a fan of Resurgence.
