On Friday, July 19, 2024, the official website and X (formerly Twitter) handle for the Okinawa de Suki ni Natta anime released a promotional video and visual to reveal that the series will be airing in January 2025. The production team also announced two new cast members and the artist for the opening theme song.
The anime adaptation of Egumi Sora’s manga series, Okinawa de Suki ni Natta Ko ga Hogen Sugite Tsurasugiru, has the same title as the original work. The manga has been serializing on Shinchosa’s Kurage Bunch website since January 2020, with eight volumes currently available.

Along with this announcement, the broadcasting details for the upcoming anime Okinawa de Suki ni Natta have been released. The show will be broadcasted weekly on various channels such as Tokyo MX, BS11, Okinawa TV, Ryukyu Broadcasting, Ryukyu Asahi Broadcasting, and their affiliates, starting in January 2025. Etsuko Kozakura has been announced as a new addition to the cast, portraying the role of Oki Memo Shisha, a character inspired by the renowned ancient lion statue in Okinawa. Tarusuke Shingaki has also been revealed as the narrator for the series, joining the voice cast.
The newly announced voice actors will be joining the already confirmed cast, including Takeo Otsuka (voiced by Teruaki Nakamura), Fairouz Ali (voiced by Kana Higa), and Akari Kito (voiced by Hina Kyan). The official staff of the Okinawa de Suki ni Natta anime has announced that the opening theme song will be performed by HY (Hideyuki Niizato), a four-piece band based in Okinawa. This visual was created to commemorate the premiere of the anime.

Shingo Tanabe is the director of the series at Millepensee, with Shin Itagaki serving as the chief director. Tanabe-san is also overseeing the writing of the scripts. Tomohiro Yoshida has been chosen as the chief animation director, while Tomohisha Ishikawa, Ayano Kinjo, and Yoshimi Katayama are in charge of composing the series’ music at King Records.
Adapted from Egumi Sora’s manga, the romantic comedy anime centers on Teruaki Nakamura, who moves from Tokyo to Okinawa. There, he crosses paths with Hina Kyan and falls for her. However, he struggles to understand her Okinawan dialect. To aid him, Hina’s friend, Kana Higa, acts as a translator, unbeknownst to Teruaki that she harbors a secret crush on him.
