One of Kevin Costner’s Best Movies Just Dropped on Netflix – And It’s Not a Western

u003cp>Kevin Costner may currently be in between projects, but one of his most underrated works has recently become available on Netflix, and it doesn’t involve any cowboy hats.

Prior to starring as John Dutton in Yellowstone and embarking on a four-part Western series with Horizon, Costner was already lending a hand to the spirits of legendary baseball players, giving them the chance to play once more.

In 1989, the film Field of Dreams featured Costner as Ray, a modest farmer whose world is turned upside down when he begins to communicate with deceased baseball legends. They persuade him to transform his cornfield into a baseball field.

The famous line, “If you build it, he will come,”from the 1990s film Field of Dreams has been parodied in movies such as Wayne’s World 2. This classic movie, which was nominated for three Academy Awards including Best Picture, has become synonymous with Kevin Costner’s film career.

While Costner’s Western movies may be more widely recognized, his role in one of the greatest sports films ever made cannot be overlooked. In fact, this film ranks among Costner’s top ten highest-rated works on Rotten Tomatoes, with a score of 88%. Therefore, it is highly recommended to watch this film.

Field of Dreams was made available on the streaming service on September 1, 2024, shortly after news broke that the film was set to receive a television adaptation starring Chris Pratt.

Despite plans for the show, it was never produced. This means that the only option to experience the story of a man’s test of faith is to go to Netflix and watch Costner in his prime.

The movie Field of Dreams was brought back into discussion during the 96th Academy Awards when comedian John Mulaney made a reference to it while presenting the award for Best Sound. In a humorous manner, he expressed his admiration for the movie by stating, “I love Field of Dreams, it should definitely win Best Picture…although they will likely choose one of this year’s nominees.”
