One Piece: 10 foreshadowings of the Fate of the World before Vegapunk’s message in chapter 1113

On April 29, 2024, the latest chapter of One Piece, chapter 1113, was released. As the Vegapunk began to reveal the ‘truth of the world’ in his message, readers eagerly anticipate the unraveling of the mysteries of the Grand Line in the upcoming chapters.

Despite the chapter’s primary focus being on the Five Elders searching for Vegapunk-like headless chickens, the most significant moment of the chapter may have been its final panel. In this panel, the brilliant scientist revealed the fate of the world, stating that it would sink beneath the sea without divulging any further details.

It is not surprising that this event was foreshadowed by multiple incidents in the past, as it is a common technique used by the author. In this article, all potential foreshadowing of the Grand Line sinking underwater is explored, leading up to its eventual reveal by Vegapunk in One Piece chapter 1113.

Please note that this article includes the author’s opinion and may contain spoilers from the One Piece manga series.

10 Foreshadowing Hints to the Sinking of the Grand Line in One Piece Chapter 1113

1) The eradication of the Lulusia Kingdom

In chapter 1060 of One Piece, the Five Elders carried out a trial of a recently developed product created by Dr. Vegapunk at the request of Im-sama (Imu). This product, known as the Mother Flame, was used by the Five Elders as a weapon, potentially an ancient one, to annihilate the island where the Lulusia Kingdom was located.

Following its destruction, a gaping hole emerged in the sea, leading the narrator to speculate that the sea level had risen by 1 meter. This could potentially serve as a foreshadowing of Vegapunk’s message in chapter 1113.

2) Rayleigh’s Journey to Becoming a Coating Mechanic

Silvers Rayleigh was a former member of the Pirate King’s crew and held a high position as one of Roger’s most trusted allies and right-hand man. While his exact role within the Roger Pirates remains a mystery, it is believed that he was a skilled swordsman. During the timeskip, he served as Luffy’s mentor and instructed him on the use of Haki.

Despite being an incredible swordsman, Rayleigh chose to become a ship-coating mechanic after the disbandment of the Roger Pirates. This decision may have been a foreshadowing of Vegapunk’s message in chapter 1113, indicating his knowledge of how to enable a ship to travel underwater.

3) The Holy Land of Mary Geoise at the Top of the Red Line

Mary Geoise, also known as the holy land, is the center of the World Government and home to the most elite individuals, including the Celestial Dragons and the Five Elders. Protecting this land is the formidable God Knights, the most powerful army under the World Government’s command.

Mary Geoise, situated at the peak of the Red Line, is separated from the rest of the world by this massive divide. In order to reach it, pirates must navigate through Fisherman Island and travel underwater. The fact that Mary Geoise is situated on the highest point of the Red Line, surpassing all other islands in the Grand Line, may possibly hint at a message from Vegapunk as seen in One Piece chapter 1113.

Iceberg’s Advice to Franky

Iceberg holds the dual roles of president of the Gallery-La ship repair company and mayor of Water-7 island. He was once an apprentice of the legendary shipwright, Tom, who also mentored one of the members of the Straw Hat Pirates, Franky.

While talking to his former colleague, Franky, about the recurring Aqua Laguna floods in Water 7, Iceberg shared his plan to turn the entire city into a floating ship. While he was referring to the immediate issue of the Aqua Laguna, this statement could also hint at Vegapunk’s appearance in chapter 1113.

Shanks’ Crew Without Devil Fruits

Led by the Emperor and former comrade of the Pirate King, Shanks, the Red Hair Pirates are widely recognized as one of the most formidable pirate crews in the series. It was Shanks who served as the inspiration for Luffy to embark on his own pirate journey.

Shanks’ crew remains shrouded in mystery to this day. There are theories that suggest his crewmates may not possess devil fruit abilities, which could align with Vegapunk’s warning in chapter 1113 about devil fruit users drowning in the sea. It’s possible that Shanks’ crew, known for their strength, purposefully avoids devil fruits to avoid this danger.

The Mystery of the Bridge of Tequila Wolf

During the timeskip, Kuma sent Robin to Tequila Wolf, a nation located in the East Blue. There, she witnessed the enslaved citizens constructing a bridge on the orders of the World Nobles. While speaking with one of the slaves, Robin learned that the true purpose of the bridge was a mystery to them, but they were told it would connect different islands.

The mysterious aspect of this bridge’s creation is that it began 700 years ago and whenever the workers ran out, new slaves would appear eagerly despite the loss of their predecessors.

It has been suggested that this bridge may possibly connect to elevated islands, potentially foreshadowing Vegapunk’s message in chapter 1113. Additionally, the construction of this bridge began 700 years ago and could have significantly added to the mass of the sea, potentially contributing to the rise in sea level.

Crocus living inside a whale

Crocus, who used to be a member of the Roger Pirates, served as their doctor. According to Rayleigh, he was the only one capable of treating Roger’s unspecified illness.

Even after retiring from his life as a pirate, he remains at the Twin Cape Lighthouse, a popular spot for pirates embarking on the Grand Line from Reverse Mountains. He resides within Laboon, a devoted whale who holds a strong admiration for the Rumbar Pirates and eagerly awaits their return. This peculiar living arrangement, with a former pirate residing inside a whale, may foreshadow the message conveyed by Vegapunk in chapter 1113.

Joyboy’s Vow to Fisherman Island

Joyboy, a prominent historical figure in the Grand Line, remains one of the greatest enigmas in the series. His involvement in the events of Fisherman Island has been significant, and there have been hints of his connection to both Zunesha and the Iron Giant.

During the Fisherman Island arc, Neptune, the island’s King, recounted to Nico Robin the story of their connection to Joyboy. Joyboy was a man who had pledged to rescue them from the depths of the ocean, but for unknown reasons, he was unable to fulfill his promise 800 years ago.

Despite initially betraying his friends, he eventually apologized and promised to fulfill his pledge of rescuing them from the depths of the sea when he returns 800 years later. This could potentially foreshadow a similar message from Vegapunk in One Piece chapter 1113.

Despite the rising sea levels and the world being submerged underwater, the pressure at the bottom of the sea would increase to an unbearable level, making it impossible for any life forms not accustomed to living in such conditions to survive. As a result, the Fisherman may have to relocate from the depths of the sea to the surface.

9) Locations in One Piece

The Wano Kingdom, situated in the New World, is an independent country that does not align with the World Government. Its location at a high altitude makes it difficult to access, resulting in it being a secluded nation compared to others within the Grand Line. In a similar manner, Zou is also a non-affiliated country located at the summit of Zunesha, a colossal elephant.

The geographical locations of both non-affiliated islands ensure their safety from extreme flooding, possibly hinting at Vegapunk’s message in One Piece chapter 1113.

10) Location: Shandora

Shandora, a city in Jaya, was expelled from the 20 families that had established the World Government in the past. Strangely, the city was forcefully separated from Jaya and propelled into the sky, eventually becoming a part of Skypiea Island.

There is speculation that Shandora’s significance may lie in its connection to the One Piece, potentially explaining why it was launched into the sky by a Knock-up stream. This could potentially allude to Vegapunk’s message in chapter 1113 of One Piece.
